Welcome to Masur
Woodworking
Masur Woodworking is a small, non
commercial one man
shop located in Norway, in the south-east corner of the country - near the Swedish border.
Among the local hardwoods, the preferred wood is birch, both flamed,
masur and ordinary birch. Most of the items is furniture or related
items, but there are also been created some cabinets in the shop.
The work is carried out in the owners spare time, so the volume of
production is relative modest. I hope this pages will give you a
picture of the activity and may bee it will give inspiration to
other amateur woodworkers.

What is Masur ?

Masur
birch, is produced from
wood attacked by the larvae of the Agromyzia carbonara beetle. Small
brown pith flecks caused by the attack produce an attractive flecked
and swirling figure which is reported to be highly prized for
veneers for panelling and marquetry. |
