The bathroom furniture is made for my daughter and son in
law and adapted to a relative small room. Not to bee
dominate in the small room the countertop of the furniture is
gently curved. The appearance will then be a little softer.
The furniture is made in white oak, with base-cabinets made
of baltic birch.
The finish is one layer of boiled linseed oil, 3 layers of
shellac and on the top 3 layers of satin varnish.
The base units are made of
19mm baltic birch. This plywood is very sturdy, with one
good side. Here they are ready for gluing up, with slits for
biscuits.
Ready made white oak for face
frames Those are 50 mm with a thickness of 20 mm.
The base cabinets are glued up
with biscuits.
More base units.
Base units with
face frames assembled are test
installed on a 15 cm high base.
Base units in both ends has got a solid oak end panel, and
since the unit in the middle are somewhat deeper than the
end units, is the front part of sidewall covered with an oak
panel.
One of the base units have a curved cut out in the front to
make space for the sink.
The inside walls of the base units are finished with
shellac.
Doors get their finish
The countertop is made of 35
mm thick oak glued together, and is gently curved in the
front. At the rear edge a board with a routed slot at the
top to receive the mirror.
Space for the sink is made with a jigsaw.
The work with the top is
started. It will have the same curved front as the
countertop.
The holes for the
lightning is done.
And the mouldings
are glued in place.
Top an countertop is treated
with boiled linseed oil, shellac and varnish.
The boiled linseed oil will pop up the pattern in the white
oak, the shellac will give the wood a nice warm colour and
at last the varnish will protect the wood from moisture and
water.
Here is the side
cabinets under work.
All units are
ready and the test mounting looks good.
Hardware in
antique brass mounted an doors
and drawers. Self closing hinges in the same style..
The drawers are
using center-mount slides.

cabinet. Back wall inside the cabinets is made in solid oak.
Down lights is mounted
together wit outlet for hairdryer/shaver.
Completed.
And installed in
the bathroom.
The space was unfortunately to
small to have a complete picture.
